Written and directed by Jean-Luc Godard, pioneer of The French New Wave also known as nouvelle vague, BREATHLESS is Godard’s first feature-length film and among the inaugural films of the genre. This 1960 film features iconic performances from Jean-Paul Belmondo as the Bogart-inspired small-time hood and Jean Seberg as his Herald Tribune-hawking American girlfriend who ultimately betrays him. With a pace that’s non-stop thanks to its startling innovative editing techniques, BREATHLESS reinvented the grammar of movies and almost instantly changed the course of international filmmaking.

REVIEWS:

Five out of five stars! - Chris Vognar, The Dallas Morning News

“Breathless still feels entirely original. It still has the power to defy conventional expectations about what a movieshould be while providing an utterly captivating moviegoing experience... Muchas it may have influenced what was to come later, there is still nothing quitelike it.  Even at 50, it is stillcool, still new!” – A.O. Scott, The New York Times

"Fifty Years on, still the newest film in town!" - John Powers, Vogue
