One of American music’s great untold stories, A.K.A. DOC POMUS brings to life the joyous, romantic, and heartbreaking journey of blues singer and hit songwriter Doc Pomus. Paralyzed with polio as a child, Brooklyn-born Jerome Felder reinvented himself, renaming himself Doc Pomus and emerging as a one of the most brilliant songwriters of the early rock and roll era, writing “This Magic Moment,” “A Teenager in Love,” “Viva Las Vegas,” and dozens of other hits. His extraordinary life story makes for a powerful and lively film that introduces this unique American character to a new circle of admirers.

REVIEWS:

"AKA Doc Pomus is inspirational...it is thought provoking" - James Eliopulos Los Angeles Beat

"Doc Doc Rocks....wonderful new documentary " - Michael Sigman, Huffington Post

“There is nothing remotely ordinary about this film…. There is just too much flair. The directors have a visual imagination that makes the cutting-together of historical footage, album covers, movie posters, vintage interviews with the main subject, and talking heads of people now looking back, seem like a revelation.” - Greil Marcus,
The Believer

“The documentary serves as a loving tribute that doesn’t shy away from presenting a warts-and-all portrait.” – Frank Scheck, The Hollywood Reporter

"At its best, like its hero’s greatest hits, A.K.A. DOC POMUS transcends generic bounds to touch on many shades of life: childhood difficulty, loves, heartbreak, money and legal troubles, loss of all kinds, humour, and a search for satisfaction." - Robbie Griffiths, Take One
